NOW…A characteristic of a spiritual baby is someone who scoffs at spiritual things.

They may think that they are too intelligent to be fooled by stuff that WE believe.

To them, it is foolishness what we do.

BUT…What that’s revealing…is that they are un-spiritual. AMEN!

¹⁴But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

^{NLT 14} But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.

NOW…If someone is scoffing at you and what you believe…now can understand that you’re dealing with a spiritual immature person… (Spiritual baby)

AND…babies need to be treated and handled differently. (Right?)

NOW…You don’t need to get MAD and upset at a baby for their behavior.

AND…don’t get all bothered and bent out if shape…if someone is talking about you.

UNDERSTAND that…A spiritual baby doesn’t discern what is valuable and true.

EX. You don’t give something extremely valuable to a baby. (Rolex on 4 yr old)

BUT…When a person grows up…they no longer think that the things of God are foolish.

EX. They stop joking about people who speak in tongues

EX. They stop making dumb remarks about someone’s prosperity.

EX. They understand what a confession of faith is.

EX.”Well…why do they need an airplane?” (We’ll, why do you need a car?)

Grown / Mature people place a high priority on Wisdom:

Proverbs 10:14 ….Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.

Proverbs 14:7 …Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.

Proverbs 19:3… People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then are angry at the Lord.

YOU SEE…When you grow up…you are very interested in the things of God!

AND…What others call foolish…you call precious. AMEN!

BUT…We have the mind of Christ…

NOT…the mind of a little bitty baby.

You have the mind of the anointed one…you have an anointed mind…you have the mind of Christ…a sound mind.

SAY IT! When pressure comes…faith rises from my spirit…and I know exactly what to do…in every situation!

My mind is not full of fear, confusion, despair and worry.

YOU KNOW…Babies live in a small world.

Everything revolves around them. (They are the center of their world)

Q. Do they care about who the president is…what the economy is doing…or what mom and dad are having to deal with? A. NO!

They don’t have a clue…and that’s alright!

AND…When they want to eat…they let you know.

When they need a diaper changed…they will let you know.

When they want attention…they will let you know. RIGHT!

EX. People will run over you in the stores…in the parking lot…AND not even see you…RIGHT!

EX. Weak little truck…pulling a trailer…tired to pass me on County Line Road.

These kind of people are living in a tiny world…they only care about what matters to them.

AND…They think that everyone is talking about them.

They think…Ohh’…what does everyone think about me?”

“What are they going to think about me; If I do this or that…or if I don’t do?

WELL…If they just received Christ (Newly born-again) that’s fine!

BUT that’s NOT alright if they’ve been acting like that for 20 years, or 15years, or even 5 years! AMEN!

You have to start…right where you’re at…and be willing to work with what you have.

NOW…There are many parallels in the bible between spiritual development and natural development.

1 Corinthians 3:1 (New Living Translation)

¹ Dear brothers and sisters, when I was with you I couldn’t talk to you as I would to spiritual people I had to talk as though you belonged to this world or as though you were infants in the Christian life. ² I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren’t ready for anything stronger. And you still aren’t ready, ³ for you are still controlled by your sinful nature. You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other…

SO…we know a lot about spiritual development…because we understand natural development.

AND…When a person is born again…their spirit is not automatically fully mature.

NOW…There are a lot of people who have no idea that their spirit man has the capacity to grow.

***God’s design for you is that you not only develop physically or mentally but that you develop spiritually.

NOW…As our spirit receives nourishment from the Word of God…it develops, and it grows, and it can get to the point that it will dominate your being.

NOW…When I say “dominate”…I don’t mean that you’re a zombie…

I’m saying that your subconscious is where most of your daily decisions are made…and your spirit can be so in-tune with that resisting garbage is much easier.

EX. Your flesh says; “I want that”…but your spirit can rise up and say “NO HUSH”.

You See…You don’t just think anything…you choose what you think…

AND… you say…what you decide to say…

NOW…you might be saying…what you’ve been saying for a lot of years…

But…you can transform what you’re thinking and choose to think and talk differently.

Romans 12:2

²And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

You know…A BIG reason why so many people are walking around defeated, in so many areas is because they are weak spiritually.

EX. It’s hard to control your appetite, your desires, your thought life, your attitude, if you are weak spiritually.

BUT…When your spirit is strong…you can control your mind, you can control your body, and you can control your urges…because the man on the inside is in charge!

***There is a place where you can get depleted in your spirit, that no amount of bed rest will do you any good!

Because there are different parts to a person…Spirit / Soul/ body

AND…all three parts need nourishment.

EX. Some people will come into to the church…and not really know what they need…because their head doesn’t know what their lacking…but their spirit is hungry.

NOW…the quality that you intake will determine what you dominate outside.

Mankind was never designed to be limited by this natural, three dimensional, world…

AND…what you see physically isn’t all there is to see.

Because your spirit can see!

NOW…A lot of church folks are very comfortable with the natural…but they don’t want to step beyond the natural line…over to the super-natural.

BUT…if they have not been taught to understand the supernatural from God’s Word…then that is completely understandable.

Great exploits take place…over in the super natural…

NOW…Others don’t always see what you can see.

The invisible controls the visible.

What you speak out of your spirit is controlling something.

EX. Jesus spoke to a fig tree and it died…what He changed something visible.

What a mess!

Life without the Word…causes a person’s life to be without eternal purpose.

Without eternal purpose…the greatest “planners” still only have short term plans.

Spiritual Development….if you’re going to develop…you’re going to have to face the music.

You have to start…right where you’re at…and be willing to work with what you have.

The only way to develop in prayer is to PRAY.

The only way to develop in sowing and reaping is to SOW.

The only way to develop in ministry is to minister.

EX. Of when I went over to Mr. Palmer welding shop…and I was wanting him to show me the secrets of how to weld…he simply said…do it over, and over, and over again.

NOW…In the beginning it might not feel comfortable… (Because you don’t know what to do)…but just keep with it! AMEN!!!!

The devil will come to tell you…”that was terrible…you didn’t help anyone with that message…you should just give up and quit…leave that to someone younger, smarter, wealthier, better looking…ect.

To be perfect…is to grow up…it’s to mature.

(*1) EX. Of a little boy looking at his father and wanting to grow up and be like him….well this is the way we should look at Jesus.

-Jesus is our example

-We should look at Him

-We should emulate Him

-We should walk like, look like, talk like, and act like Him!

NOW…for someone to say; “We’ll….I just want to be my own person”

Guess what…you’re going to be like someone.

AND…If you are saying you don’t want to be like Jesus…then you will take on the behavior of the devil.

EX. Of the devil’s behavior: rebellious, fearful, foul mouth, sharp tongue, touchy, resentful…

Is it God’s will for us to grow up? YES

Do you need to grow up? YES

From where you are right now do you have room to grow? YES

Why did God give us apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers?

Why is there a church?

Why are their ministry gifts?

There are people who don’t recognize the importance and value of the church.

Well…people have had all kinds of dumb ideas?

God has a plan…AMEN!

He said; “Forsake not the assembly together of the saints”

Why is their structure and anointed gifts?

There are so many adults running around with diapers on its sad.

People don’t get up in the morning to go to church service because they’re thinking…”I’ve got to grow up”

If you asked most people why they go to church service…you would get many different answers.

A. I’ve got to go sit under my pastor…I’ve got to sit under his anointing…I believe God has anointed him just for me…

I’ve got to help out and be a blessing to others…

There maybe a new family that has never heard the word of faith teaching…

I need to grow up and be a help…I’m not going stay a baby.

(Are people thinking that way by-in-large in the body of Christ?) NO

NOW…this is why He gave the ministry gifts.

Do we need to be developed? A.YES

Do we need to mature? A. YES

Do we need to spiritually grow up? A. YES

V.12 …for the work of the ministry…

NOW…Will our maturity and spiritual development affect our ministry? A.YES

Will it affect the level and scope of the work of the ministry? A. YES

V.12…for the edifying (or building up) of the body of Christ…

So…Our spiritual maturity…is not only for ourselves…but it’s for the church.

Q. How well can a spiritual baby build the church? A. Not nearly as affective a mature believer.

IN FACT: The more limited a person’s development is…will be the more limited their work of ministry will be.

Who is the perfect example of being mature? A. JESUS

NOW…It’s not just a good idea to grow up and mature it’s a commandment.

SAY IT…I am growing up…in the things of the word…to be more like Jesus.

Other benefits to growing up…are that a mature person is not tossed to and fro…they’re not easily deceived.

NOW….babies are easy to deceive…

They’re moved with emotion very easily…

Babies will eat just about anything…and they’ll put all kinds of things in their mouth.

ALSO…If a baby doesn’t like something…they’ll run from correction.

Adults know the difference between what is good for them, and what is dangerous.

NOW…The development between the natural and the spiritual is very similar.

EX. Conception…baby…toddler…child…teenager…young adult…adult.

(We wouldn’t have the natural if we didn’t first have the spiritual.)

SO…Growing up spiritually is vital.

Tell someone; “Don’t be afraid to grow up”

NOW…If that bothers you, for someone to tell you to grow up…then you need to really pay attention. LOL

WHY? Because you think you don’t need to. (You think you already have.)

You See…Spiritual development is very similar to physical development.

EX. Kids like to this that their older than they really are.

AND Teenagers…they like to think that their more mature than they are.

EX. Adults…remember when you were 15, 16, &17?

…you thought you knew so much more than…you thought your parents did.

You Thought…”They just don’t know how mature I am.” LOL

Little Kids…Will tell you that their 7 1/2 years old.

EX. My daughter who is 5…talks to me about the “little kids”

EX. In high school…the idea that a senior and a freshman…are so different.

You see…When you feel this way, it is proof positive of how immature you are.

An over exaggeration of your own maturity…is a common characteristic of your own immaturity. Right!

Another common characteristic of immaturity…is someone who becomes easily offended at any suggestion, or implication that you’re not as mature as you were thinking.

Be conservative of where you are spiritually.

Pick a category of where you think you are spiritually:

1. Infant

2. Child

3. Adolesant (teen)

4. Adult

5. Elder

NOW…Whatever you’ve picked…back it up an entire group and that’s probably where you are. LOL

***Everyone needs growing up!

Spiritual babies can be in a 50 year old body! (AND this can confuse some people)

What comes out of your life…is determined by what is in your consciousness.

The blessing will cause you to become the envy of the land.

We should value the blessing…more than we value expertise.

If you desire to be blessed…then revere and worship the Jesus!

When there is no fear of the Lord (no reverence, no worship) in a person’s life….there is no future.

The reverecial fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

There is a release of the wealth…blessing of God…on the earth.

Our future is in our covenant compliance…

Our future is not held in a worldly economy…it’s not held in another man…it’s not held in an earthly government…

The Blessing…is to be a blessing…you’re not blessed to be a consumer.

Don’t ever say; they have too much…because you don’t know their calling.

The only reason people look at and talk about other people…is becausr their not fulfilling their covenant assignment.

Even though Lot was rude to Abram…Abram still went with his army to rescue Lot.

There must be a discharge of the blessing…for the blessing to be in its FULLNESS.

The rich man was very emotional when he was in hell.

(He was Thirsty; he was crying…he had all kinds of emotions)

BUT…This man’s spirit and soul are being tormented….and he can’t change it!

NOW…He should have and could have changed it…when he had a chance to…but he’s lost his ability to choose.

EX. This process is like pilot training…it’s something that you do as long as you plan on staying current.

Their spirit is hungry…and under fed.

AND…When your spirit is not fed…it will affect your emotions…your will…and even your body.

AND…You can tell when you don’t feed you physical body.

WELL…You can tell when you haven’t fed your spirit…you’ll be weak spiritually.

NOW…Until a person has the revelation that what they have in their life, is in large part a result of what they have been saying. This scripture will have little signifigence in their life.

Treasury = is where something is kept (box,) usually something that is valuable.

Intrinsically evil /good = native, innate, natural, true, real. (Native = where someone comes from originates from)

Depraved = corrupt, wicked, or perverted.

SO…The words that your speaking…where did they originate from? Native to?

NOW…It might be natural to speak a certain way where some words originate from…but doesn’t mean that you are supposed to talk that way where you at now.

If a person is not willing to read their bible…then they will not have the time to think differently…if they never think differently then they’ll never believe differently…and probably will never talk differently.

Every word we speak affects the spirit world / realm.
